Set in 1890s colonial Malaya, the story follows Li Lan, a young woman from a once-wealthy family, who receives a proposal to become a "ghost bride" to a wealthy family's deceased son. As she navigates this unsettling proposition, Li Lan finds herself drawn into the spirit world, where she encounters restless spirits and uncovers dark family secrets. Her journey becomes a quest for truth and freedom, as she struggles to balance the demands of the living and the dead, ultimately seeking her own path in a world where tradition and the supernatural intertwine.
